Joel is now using his background as a college theater professor, Manchester University Director of Drama, and his award-winning narration experience to teach a brand new college-level introductory acting course geared specifically to the audiobook narrator. Countless narrators come to the business from various fields of V.O. or from outside the performance world entirely, hungry for a grounding in acting technique, scene analysis, character creation and how to live in the moment of the text.
Over fifteen weeks a class of ten takes an intensive deep-dive into the specific acting needs for the narrator.
Graduates from Acting for Audio include mutli-Audie nominees, SOVAS winners as well as many Earphones Award recipients.
He also teaching Demo-lition, an intensive, targeted and curated demo portfolio creation class for narrators who have graduated from Acting for Audio Part 1.
